The journey began in April 2009, when Anh Danh Trần, the founder of Quán Bụi, acquired a branch of Bobby Brewers café. Bobby Brewers was a renowned franchise brand at that time. This marked his first foray into the culinary industry, approaching it with a mindset of learning on the job, gaining experience, and forging his own path.
Two years later, when the premises were transferred, instead of continuing the old model, he chose to restart. This time, he had a clearer direction: to embrace Vietnamese culinary culture and meet the needs of local diners, especially the office worker segment.
“I didn’t dream big when I started. I just hoped for a place that cooked Vietnamese food sincerely, in a familiar enough space where anyone could sit back and relax as if they were at home,” said CEO Danh Trần.
In September 2011, the first Quán Bụi officially opened on a small street in the Tân Định area of District 1, a place once playfully called “Little Hollywood” by filmmakers. Initially, the restaurant served office lunch set menus, a very popular format at cafes back then. However, after a period of operation, this model gradually shifted to an à la carte menu, and officially gave birth to Quán Bụi Original on Ngô Văn Năm Street in May 2013—a place many loyal patrons still frequent today.
Amidst the rapid growth of fast-food models in Vietnam, Anh Danh remained steadfast on his unique path: preserving the spirit of a heartfelt Vietnamese meal cooked with passion, in a cozy, home-like atmosphere.
Moreover, Anh Danh Trần is also the force behind brands such as Laang Saigon, Café’In, and Sticky Rice, forming the Quán Bụi Group—a culinary ecosystem with its own distinct identity. While each brand boasts a different style, the common thread among them all is a focus on quality, refined experiences, and a genuine, customer-centric spirit.
Phú Mỹ Hưng – The Next Step in Connecting with Vietnamese Flavors
On May 15, Quán Bụi officially launched its new branch in Phú Mỹ Hưng, marking another step in its journey to preserve and spread the spirit of Vietnamese home-cooked meals—a core essence that has defined this Vietnamese restaurant brand for over a decade.
Quán Bụi Phú Mỹ Hưng – The newest branch of the Quán Bụi restaurant chain
Located in an area with a large international community, particularly Koreans, Quán Bụi Phú Mỹ Hưng not only serves Vietnamese diners but also aims to be a cultural culinary bridge, helping more international friends experience traditional Vietnamese dishes in the most accessible and familiar way.
The new Phú Mỹ Hưng branch is designed in an Indochinese style, combining a gentle jade green tone with rustic materials like patterned tiles, wooden tables and chairs, and natural light. This creates a space that is both modern and infused with nostalgic charm.
Right next to Quán Bụi, its “sister” brand Café’In also recently opened a new branch with an open, modern space—where diners can stop by for coffee, chat, work, or relax before or after their meal. The combination of Quán Bụi and Café’In at the same location offers a seamless and convenient dining and coffee experience, especially suitable for residents in the area as well as international guests seeking a quality and pleasant destination.
The menu at Quán Bụi still features familiar home-style dishes, meticulously prepared from ingredients to presentation, while respecting the unique characteristics of each Vietnamese region.
From a small, experimental model, Quán Bụi has grown into a brand trusted by thousands of diners daily. After more than 15 years, what Quán Bụi continually pursues is the preservation of the Vietnamese meal spirit, and the steadfast, sincere spreading of that value through every meal and service environment.
